The Challenge
A multinational distribution chain struggled to keep track of high-value inventory pallets inside massive, steel-framed warehouse depots. GPS trackers failed to penetrative indoor facilities, and manual scanning of barcode IDs slowed dispatch processes, leading to shipping lane bottlenecks and incorrect courier routing coordinates.
The solution needed to operate offline, interface with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) hardware, capture temperature and humidity sensor telemetry, and sync immediately with cloud hubs upon network re-connection.
The Solution
FrontApp designed and built a mobile companion application utilizing **Flutter** for cross-platform efficiency, combined with native BLE SDK overrides to ensure optimal background scanning. The app communicates with warehouse gateways using highly efficient JSON payloads.
We established an event-driven syncing mechanism: data is saved in a local database engine (SQLite) on the device, allowing operations to continue without network access, and updates are queued for background transmission when cellular/Wi-Fi connection resumes.
Telemetry Sync Architecture
Technical Implementation
We developed the app using Dart and Flutter, creating a custom background listener that monitors Bluetooth beacons with minimal battery drain. WebSockets manage live location coordinates maps updates inside the dispatch room dashboard.
Results & Business Impact
Delivered on schedule in 10 weeks, the app was immediately rolled out to 15 major distribution points:
- ✓ 40% Dispatch Efficiency: Load coordinators track pallet staging coordinates automatically, eliminating manual scans.
- ✓ 10,000+ Active Beacons: High-performance mobile scanner processes up to 200 nearby devices concurrently.
- ✓ Enhanced Compliance: Automated environmental logs guarantee product safety profiles during cold chain transit.
